NHL Mock Draft Simulator
Pick a team, run all seven rounds, and trade against 31 AI general managers or up to 31 real people in the same room. Draft order is generated from live standings and the league's actual lottery probabilities, not a fixed board. Free, and there is no account to create.
What this simulator does differently
Real lottery mathematics, not a static order
Most mock draft tools hard-code a draft order taken from last season's standings. This one runs the lottery the way the league does: weighted probabilities by standings position, the two-draw structure, the maximum ten-spot movement rule, and conditional and protected picks resolved in the right sequence. Run it once, or run ten thousand iterations and read the distribution.
Multiplayer rooms up to 32 people
Create a private or public room and every seat can be a real person. Picks sync live, trade offers arrive as notifications, and there is a chat channel in the room. This is the part no other public hockey draft tool offers — most simulators are single-player against scripted logic.
A trade engine with actual valuation
Move up, move down, package picks, or trade future years. Offers are evaluated against pick-value curves and roster need rather than a flat points chart, so AI teams decline bad offers and initiate their own.
Seven rounds, 224 selections
The draft does not stop after round one. Every pick through the seventh round is live, drawn from a scouted prospect pool spanning the CHL, NCAA, USHL, SHL, Liiga, and other development leagues.
How to run a mock draft
- Choose the draft year, then pick the team you want to control — or take all 32.
- Run the lottery, or skip it and start from the current projected order.
- When your pick arrives, select from the available board or open the trade panel.
- Finish the draft to get a class grade with value and need analysis for every selection.
- Share the result, or reset and run it again with a different strategy.
Frequently asked questions
Is the mock draft simulator free?
Yes. Every round, the trade engine, and multiplayer rooms are free, and no account or signup is required to run a draft.
How many rounds can I simulate?
All seven. That is 224 picks across 32 teams, before any conditional selections.
Can I draft against my friends?
Yes. Create a room and share the link. Up to 32 people can occupy seats simultaneously, with live pick syncing, trade negotiation between users, and in-room chat.
Where do the prospect rankings come from?
The board is built from our own scouting work rather than resold from a single outlet, and it updates through the season as players move. You can read the reasoning behind any name on the rankings page.
Does the simulator use the real draft order?
It uses live standings to generate the order, then applies the league's published lottery odds. Once the actual lottery has been held, the confirmed order is used instead.
