Privacy Policy
Draft Prospects Hockey is operated by The Prospect Don Holdings LLC. This page explains what we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
The short version: we do not sell your data, we do not require an account to read anything, and most of what our tools do happens inside your own browser.
Who we are
Draft Prospects Hockey ("DPH", "we", "us") is a brand of The Prospect Don Holdings LLC, based in Illinois, United States. You can reach us at Anthony@TheProspectDon.com for any privacy question.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and pitch emails. If you email us or use a contact form, we receive your name, email address and whatever you write. We keep it only as long as we need it to answer you.
- Display names in multiplayer tools. Our mock draft simulator and franchise tools let you enter a name or league label so other people in your room can see who is picking. Use whatever handle you like. Do not enter anything you would not want another user to see.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our host records standard request data such as IP address, browser type, referring page and timestamp. This is ordinary web hosting activity and is used for security and troubleshooting.
- Analytics. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages and tools get used. This tells us aggregate patterns, not who you are.
- Local storage. Our simulators, rankings tools and franchise mode store your drafts, saves, board order and settings in your own browser. That data lives on your device. Clearing your browser storage deletes it, and we cannot recover it for you.
Cookies and similar technology
We use a small number of cookies and browser-storage keys. Some are strictly necessary to make a tool work, such as remembering your saved draft. Others support analytics or embedded content. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, though some tools will stop remembering your progress if you do.
Third parties we rely on
Running the site means handing certain tasks to service providers. Each has its own privacy policy, and your data is handled under their terms when you interact with their part of the stack:
- Netlify hosts and serves the site and its edge functions.
- WordPress powers our published articles and scouting reports.
- Google Firebase supports multiplayer sessions and saved leagues in the simulator and franchise tools.
- Google Fonts serves typefaces used across the site.
- Embedded media and social platforms such as YouTube or X may set their own cookies when their content appears on a page.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Sponsored content
Some articles, videos or placements on Draft Prospects Hockey may be sponsored or contain affiliate links. When that is the case we label it. Sponsors do not receive your personal information from us.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to certain processing, or opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and similar states, and residents of the UK and EEA, have these rights under their local law.
To make a request, email Anthony@TheProspectDon.com with the subject line "Privacy Request". We will respond within the time your law allows. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Children
Draft Prospects Hockey is written for a general audience interested in hockey scouting and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Data retention and security
We keep personal information only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires. We use HTTPS across the site and rely on reputable providers for storage and delivery. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International visitors
We operate from the United States. If you use the site from outside the US, your information will be processed in the US, where privacy law may differ from your own.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note it on the site.
